IndieProse Review

Intense and unpredicatable from the first page to the last. West begins with a tale about two friends, one corrupting the other, and then proceeds to turn the story so the reader can appreciate one new dimension after another. Charles Marston, the young man tempted into debauchery, is also heir to a winemaking empire. He is forced to work in the family business after his football career comes to a tragic end. Charlie learns that his father defrauded several families. The misfortune Charlie thought he brought on the family takes on an entirely different meaning and the relationships between father and two sons come into new focus.

Randy Black is an evil genius with a touch of spirituality and morbid humor. He is a train wreck readers can't look away from and even though he is technically the villain in this story, he wrests center stage from the other characters. Even when Black's actions are forshadowed it is still impossible for readers to anticipate how devious Randy Black can be. West goes beyond the expected to deliver clever twists that surprise even the most savvy suspense reader.
